Wawa, Inc. ("Wawa") is a multi-billion dollar privately owned company established in 1803. Wawa operates over 540 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia and is headquartered in the Philadelphia suburb of Wawa, PA. Each year Wawa serves over 500 million customers.

Wawa competes aggressively with fast food restaurants, grocery stores and, most recently, gasoline marketers. In 1996, the Company introduced a gasoline offering in new stores, in conjunction with a larger store footprint. This store format combines a high volume gasoline operation with the traditional Wawa in-store offering.
