This summer give blood at more than 25 Wawa sites throughout the company and join our efforts to help the American Red Cross save lives.  From May 18th until August 28th, Wawa will be hosting blood drive sites in four of their operating states: PA, NJ, MD, and VA. Last year, more than 2,961 pints of blood were donated by associates and customers chain wide during our 2009 blood drives. Wawa Hosts Third Hoagiefest Tour: A Celebration of Peace, Savings and Shortis

Summer Festivals Honor the Great Hoagie Tradition throughout Mid-Atlantic Region
For a third year, Wawa is taking its 1960s-inspired Hoagiefest on the road with stops this summer at stores in Rio Grande, NJ; Toms River, NJ; Sandston, VA; Philadelphia, PA, and Lewes, DE. These one-day festivals pay tribute to the almighty hoagie, bringing together hoagie fanatics from across the region to celebrate their love of Wawa and commemorate a summer of peace, savings, and Shortis.  Hoagie lovers are invited to join Wawa and its tie dye-clad associates in singing and dancing to original Hoagiefest songs and competing for fun prizes as they feast on a quarter mile long hoagie served free at each event! Wawa will kick of each Hoagiefest Event by donating a truckload of food and beverages to a local food bank. Read More

Wawa Holds Historic March with PNC Bank to Celebrate One Billionth Surcharge-Free ATM Transaction and More Than One Billion Dollars Saved in ATM Fees for Customers

Wawa, Inc. announced that its ATM transactions are on pace this month to surpass an extraordinary milestone: the one billionth transaction using Wawa’s surcharge-free PNC Bank ATMs. Through the years, Wawa and PNC customers have collectively saved more than $1.3 billion in potential ATM surcharge fees. To celebrate this milestone, Wawa is hosting with PNC Bank a Billion Dollar Savings Parade on April 14 led by Wawa President & CEO, Howard Stoeckel and PNC Regional President Bill Mills down Arch Street in Philadelphia that will conclude with a ceremonial one billionth surcharge free transaction made by historic Philadelphian, Ben Franklin, at the 17th and Arch Wawa store.  Read More

Wawa Store-wide Haiti Relief Fundraising Effort Raises Over $350,000 for Red Cross International Relief Fund

Wawa, Inc., today announced that their chain-wide, in-store crisis campaign, designed to send aid to those affected by the Haitian earthquakes raised more than $350,000.  The campaign was held in partnership with the American Red Cross and allowed customers to contribute to the disaster effort by adding $1 to their Wawa purchase at checkout.   Read More

Now in its fifth year, the Annual Environmental Community Service Award will once again be presented by Wawa, NBC 10, and the environmental law firm Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox, LLP (MGKF). The goal of the Environmental Community Service award is to raise awareness of environmental concerns and to recognize middle and high schools in the Delaware Valley for their efforts in environmental service projects that enhance and improve the quality of life in their communities. Wawa Launches Prices You Can Trust Campaign throughout Greater Philadelphia


August 2009
Wawa Launches Campaign to Alert Consumers about Surcharges When Paying Credit for Gas
Wawa, Inc. today announced that beginning August 17th, they will launch a Prices You Can Trust advertising campaign in the Greater Philadelphia area, in an effort to educate customers about fees that an increasing number of retailers charge when customers purchase fuel with credit cards. Some retailers post fuel prices on signage that reflects a lower price associated only with cash purchases. When the transaction is paid for with credit, however, several cents per gallon are added with minimal disclosure. Read More

Wawa, Inc. today announced the winners of their Hoagiefest Music Contest. David Haynie of Monroeville, New Jersey won first place prize in Wawa’s Hoagiefest contest in the category of Best Video, for a piece entitled, Sub-Terranean Hoagie Blues. Evan Emerle of Barrington, New Jersey won second place prize in Wawa’s Hoagiefest contest in the category of Best Video, for a piece entitled I Love Wawa. Wawa, Inc. announced that beginning June 1st, they will launch a No-Surcharge advertising campaign, in an effort to educate customers about fees that an increasing number of retailers charge when customers purchase fuel with credit cards. The practice is to post a fuel price that seems low; when the transaction is paid for with credit, however, several cents per gallon are added with minimal disclosure. Wawa, on the other hand, offers one low price for both cash and credit – and never imposes a credit surcharge in any of their 270 stores with gasoline. Read More
