It was 10 years ago that our country experienced the worst terrorist attack in the history of our nation. The events of September 11, 2001 have had a profound impact on all of our lives and it is fitting that we give special reflection to this 10th anniversary.
In remembrance of that day 10 years ago, our Internal Care team organized an event this week at Red Roof (our corporate headquarters) that brought together our Wawa family and extended family for an emotional moment of remembrance and reflection. It was very fitting that our Internal Care team arranged this, being that they are a team at Wawa devoted to addressing catastrophic life events of associates with empathy and expertise.
Prior to the ceremony, associates and their families placed more than 3,000 flags on the lawn of Red Roof. The day of the ceremony, associates shared reflections, some remembering family and friends. The local fire company and honor guard joined the ceremony while bagpipes and patriotic tunes rang throughout the somber air.
This weekend, in our stores, you may notice that some Associates on duty will be wearing flag stickers near their nametags in order to observe this solemn anniversary and to honor those we have lost.
Here at Wawa, we have created a strong culture of caring, respect and support that bonds our associates and customers, bringing us together during times of need and for important milestones. It is only fitting that we come together on the 10th anniversary, not only for our Wawa team, but for the entire community and country.
“Till next time…
