Mother’s Day is right around the corner, which means that here at Wawa we’re gearing up for Susan G. Komen’s Philadelphia Race for the Cure, the annual event dedicated to making a world without breast cancer a reality. We’ve sponsored the event for nearly 20 years and are proud to again be a part of this inspiring day.

If you live in the Philadelphia area, I hope that you can join me and the tens of thousands of volunteers, participants, and survivors who will converge on the Ben Franklin Parkway to spend Mother’s Day making strides to find a cure for breast cancer. As in past years, hundreds of Wawa associates will be volunteering at the event, where they’ll be distributing 50,000 bakery items, 30,000 beverages, and water, snacks, and fruit to energize the runners and walkers who participate in the race.

Race for the Cure is one of the most visible examples of Wawa’s commitment to giving back to the communities we serve and championing causes close to the hearts of our associates. This commitment often runs deeper than our desire to be a good neighbor. For many Wawa associates participating in Race for the Cure, the cause is a personal one that has directly impacted them or a loved one.

Regardless of your personal story or affiliation to the cause, May 8 is a day for Wawa and the Philadelphia community to come together for a singular mission: to find a cure. I hope that you can join us this year as we take another step towards that goal.

‘Til Next Time…
